Echoer: The Newest Location-Based Social Network

Social networking has redefined the meaning of sharing with the introduction of location-based information sharing now available almost every social media. Echoer also happens to be one such social network that relies on the concept of location-based sharing of thoughts, ideas, opinions, events or things people discover, allowing them to share them through their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

The difference between Echoer and other social media like Facebook is the fact that Echoer seeks to separate the more relevant information or ‘echo’ more readily available to its users. The relevance of each echo is judged by the amount of ‘amps’ (equivalent of ‘likes’ on Facebook) it has received.

Echoer is powered by the popular location database Foursquare, which is where it gathers the information about a particular location. Although officially launched in the last week of April, the app’s beta version had been available to users in Canada. Its promotion began when it was utilized by public places like Montreal Museum of Modern Art and a coffeehouse chain named JavaU, which used it to attract more visitors. This goes on to show that Echoer has a great deal of potential for businesses in particular.
