Looking to share your pictures and views with the entire world? No? Well…how about just amongst your close buddies, or a little site to help organize your business and to help you keep your chin up? Yeah? Well, it’s a snap to create your own private Tumblr blog in only a few short steps.
First things first. Tumblr doesn’t allow primary blogs to be private. I know, I know, it’s a weird step to take, but it’s only a mild annoyance. So, if you want to make a private blog, just follow these easy steps.
- From whatever blog you’re on, go over to the right and click “Create New Blog”
- Fill out all the needed info. Title and URL, then click the checkbox for “Password Protect this blog”. We advise you to use something with letters, characters, numbers, and capital and lower case letters if you’re afraid of roving eyes trying to get in sneak peeks at whatever you have on it. After that, just click ‘Create Private Blog’ and you’re done!
This can be beneficial as your buddies, colleagues, family members and others don’t need to create an account, just make a password!
But, some of you may already have a secondary account that is going to waste, or would just be better if protected. That’s even easier. Just go into your secondary blog, click ‘customize’, then ‘advanced’, and click ‘Password protect this blog’. Follow the instructions concerning passwords, and you’re done!
You may also want to uncross the two boxes under ‘Directory’, to keep Google from listing it on its search results, and to keep you from being promoted. After all, what’s the point of a private blog if everyone knows about it?
So, there you have it. Privacy and protection in only two easy steps! Go on, Tumbl away into safety and security.
