Link Location Bar is a Firefox add-on that lets you display the URL in the location bar (the field in which you enter the URL) when you move your mouse over a link. The default place where Firefox shows the URL of a link that you hover over is the status bar (some call it the notification bar). But for some users, it feels uncomfortable to always have to look down to the status bar. It seems easier to just have it near the field of vision where one usually looks.

One drawback to this add-on is that the location bar doesn’t have as much space as the status bar. So for very long URLs, Link Location Bar just uses dots, for instance, “http://www.google.com/…/…/about.html”. The status bar in the default setup, on the other hand, shows even long links in full. But try it out for yourself to see if you like this way of displaying the URL better. As always with Firefox add-ons, you can uninstall them easily.
Link Location Bar is free and works only in the newest Firefox browser (4.0 beta12).
