Now here is the Gmail of the future. Gmail integrated with Outlook! That really would be like getting the best of both worlds. Well although we are not quite there yet, it seems like the process has already started. Scand has released an Outlook extension called Outlook4Gmail for you to synchronize your Outlook Address Book and Gmail Contacts.
You can simply download and install the Add-on to your Outlook and run it. The best part is that you can complete customize the synchronization. You can even automate the entire process and convert it to real-time synchronization. This will update any changes to the contacts in either Contact Lists to both or the other, as defined by you.
While running the integration for the Contacts, you can choose to:
- Update only the Outlook Address Book
- Update only Gmail Contacts
- Do a two-way synchronization and update both Outlook and Gmail Contacts
In case of conflicts, you can define the rule to:
- Give priority to the Outlook Contact Information
- Give priority to the Gmail Contact Information
- Give priority to the most recently updated information
This sure is a particularly useful feature to have if you use more than one workstation that you use your Outlook on. Just sync it both ways with Gmail, automate the process and all your Address Books will get automatically updated every time you modify a contact. Do check out features in detail and the system requirements here before you download and install it.
