Yahoo! finally joins the bandwagon. The most recent effort by Yahoo! to be more “social” and is opening their mail to third party apps like Wordpress, Xoopit and flickr e.t.c. These updates are supposed to role out sometime today. This and a lot of other features were talked about in the press conference held by Yahoo! on Monday. This seems to be an effort to compete with the “Labs” feature of gmail which has been becoming more and more popular. However, Yahoo! still has a long way to go reach the “social” and “developer-friendly” level of gmail.
Keep an eye out though for other Yahoo! platforms to get third-party apps as well. The news is we would be seeing revamps to a number of Yahoo! components such as Yahoo1 homepage, Yahoo! toolbar and MyYahoo!.
